The Museum of Alcoholic Beverages

The MoAB Codex

A continuously updated reference of spirits, ferments, methods, places, and people. This is the Early Edition landing page — a stub for the full Codex experience.

What the Codex will become

The MoAB Codex is intended to sit between bartending manuals and academic reference works: an accessible but citation-aware map of alcohol across civilizations.

Entries will eventually cover spirits, ferments, ingredients, production methods, regions, distilleries, bar figures, laws, rituals, and more. This page is a placeholder so visitors and donors have a clear anchor while the full data structure is being built.

Sample entry format (placeholder)

SPIRIT · REGION

Example Spirit Name

One to two lines explaining origin, base ingredient, key production notes, and why it matters historically or culturally. Final entries will cite sources and link to galleries.

INGREDIENT · PROCESS

Example Technique / Method

Short description of a fermentation or distillation approach, including how it affects flavor, risk, legality, and identity.

This page is a stub. As entries are verified and structured, the Codex will evolve into a searchable, filterable reference. Donors marked as Codex Guardians help fund research, fieldwork, and verification.
